Ever since a CBS Entertainment executive revealed to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show yesterday that Carrie Underwood was set to perform a “secret” duet on Sunday’s ACM awards, the fans have been buzzing about who that mystery partner could be.
Today, twitter is burning up with an as-of-yet unsubstantiated rumor that Carrie and new Idol judge Steven Tyler will take the stage to sing Carrie’s country hit “Undo It” on tomorrow’s live telecast.
Our Nashville guru, Windmills, explained in comments yesterday why a Carrie/Steven duet is not only not far-fetched, but would make perfect sense:
Too, Carrie told MTV she’d had a chance to talk to Steven Tyler about this season. I don’t think she’d been to the AI set yet as of Thursday because on Wednesday night at the Soul SurferHollywood premiere she was still saying she couldn’t wait to meet the contestants. So it was some other chance she had to talk to him. Maybe because of the ACMs.
“Carrie Underwood will walk out and I guarantee you she will be burning down that stage,” said CBS exec, Jack Sussman to Ryan Seacrest, ” …she’s going to do nice little duet, but wants it to be kept between her and her duet partner-and if you know her well, you know you do not want to make her upset.”
Would you like to see a Carrie Underwood/Steven Tyler duet? If not who would you like Carrie to sing a duet with tomorrow night? She just cut a duet with Brad Paisley for his upcoming album, and she’ll also set for a duet with Tony Bennetton his upcoming September duets album. Oh the possibilities!
The ACM’s air live from Las Vegas at 8 pm tomorrow night on CBS.
