n Roll Hall of Fame this week. The song list should provide a little something for everybody–inductees are chosen from all genres that fed into rock music, including country, blues, R&B and pop.
I made my picks assuming the song list will be culled from the performers inducted into the Rock Hall. Here’s the list.
What do you think the Idols should sing this week?
- Pia Toscano – Pia spoiled herself. She’ll be singing “River Deep Mountain High” by Ike and Tina Turner. I’m looking forward to see what she does with this. I hope the UMG producers don’t screw up the arrangement. Just say no to the disco version, Pia.
- Scotty McCreery – This week could be the perfect time to pull out someJohnny Cash. Or Elvis Presley (If he can keep from lapsing into imitation)
- James Durbin – Jimi Hendrix, Lep Zepplin or Van Halen
- Casey Abrams – VAN MORRISON PLEASE. Casey could kill some Van. I mean that in a good way (break out the upright bass!)
- Haley Reinhart – The British soul chanteuse, Dusty Springfield, would suit Haley just fine.
- Jacob Lusk – If Jacob sang some Al Green, he’d be forced to tone it down. Or Jackie Wilson
- Stefano Langone – Some Dion or maybe classic Four Seasons
- Paul McDonald – Those original country rockers, The Byrds or how aboutTom Waits?
- Lauren Alaina – Bonnie Raitt has crosses over into country occasionally. Her catalog is full of songs from great songwriters.
